One Day

One day

I want to go places.

I want

To see the unseen,

To hear the unheard,

To know the unknown.

One day

I want to be happy.

I want

To be someone’s smile,

To be loved,

To have more.

One day

I want to make a difference.

I want

To be the change,

To inspire,

To brighten the world.

I want.

Selfish.

One day,

I might not have these things.

I might not go where I want.

I might not have the ending that I want.

I might not leave the impact that I want.

But I can choose,

Choose to do Your work,

The work You’ve given me.

I can love,

I can serve,

I can choose.

Choose to be joyful.

You give me joy that’s unspeakable.

Because I am Yours,

And not my own.

One day

I will see You,

And nothing I wanted on earth will ever matter.

One day.

Oh glorious day!

  1. Charlotte. This is beautiful. What a wonderful expression of conflicting desires, and under all, a desire to love and serve the Lord. Thank you.
